Quick Bite: Should the Government Tell You What to Eat?

Last week, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg proposed an initiative to limit soda portions to 16oz. Individuals and business will be fined if they don't comply with this initiative once passed. They are know considering limits on popcorn and milkshakes. This comes from a city that already banned trans fats and smoking in public. At which point does this stop?

Soda companies now provide "right sized"
portions of product, 8oz.
The mantra seems to be that this is all about education and that people are not aware of how much sugar they are drinking. Did you not know already? And if it is for the sake of education, why not just educate? Why the need to regulate?

What do you think? Should portion sizes of food be regulated?
